The Gospel

What is the Gospel?

The Gospel is the good news that Eternal Life is available for everyone.

‘God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.’
(John 3.16)

Why do I need it?

We have all broken God’s law making us guilty and deserving of His judgment.

‘All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.’
(Romans 3.23)

How can God give it?

The sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus Christ allows Him to forgive sinners and offer them eternal life.

‘The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life.’
(Romans 6.23)

How can I get it?

We cannot earn eternal life, it is a free gift. God commands us all to repent of our sins and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ in order to receive it.

‘By grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest anyone should boast.’
(Ephesians 2.8-9)

When can I have it?

Eternal life is available to everyone now. The Bible emphasises the urgency of responding today – we are not guaranteed tomorrow.

‘Now is the accepted time… now is the day of salvation.’
(2 Corinthians 6.2)
